How about attaching the headboard to the wall?

We just got a new mattress with a box which sits on our metal bed frame. It is too high so called the shop where I got the mattress and asked if I could do away with the metal bed frame and sit the box and mattress on the floor. They told me, yes, no problem and it would not void the warranty. Also about our headboard....it is not attached to the metal frame at all...just pushed against the wall and the mattress and box hold it in place. We don't have a foot board.

@ Laura Lena - I'm afraid the name of the store won't help as it's a family owned mattress store in CT. Your headboard is 60 inches high so I think the 5 inch box spring will really do the trick. It's amazing how much 4 inches does on a bed. I'd do that first. Maybe you can order them and not take the plastic off. Try it out and if you still think it's too high, then return them. The only other thing I can think of is to have a handyman cut a piece of 1 inch thick plywood to lay on top of the metal frame and then put the bunkie board on top of that. It should give you the strength you need to support the mattress, but may make the bed look too low with the headboard. Also, have you checked to see if "Modi Plates" will help attach a different metal frame. You can get them on Amazon for $20, so that could also be worth a try. Good Luck.
