Slug damage?

need pix.. and more info than the leaves fell off ...

that usually happens due to lack of proper deep watering.. how did you plant it.. how do you water it.. where are you ... anything.. just give us anything to work with ...

i think sarcasmopants was probably suggesting such when he mentioned slugs ... lol ...

a pic or two might also help ...

btw: the tree is stressed... fert is NEVER a response to stress ...

pawpaws are an understory tree and need shade for their first few years. Some companies even send a shade tube. Personally, I've never had any issues with too much sun tho. There is a swallowtail butterfly that feeds on them; but that, to my knowledge, is a pawpaw's only known pest. I must tell you that it typically takes years for pawpaws to produce. We have hundreds of wild ones, but our cultivated varieties haven't produced a fruit after five years of being planted. They also grow extremely slowly. Still, I love them. They also do well mulched.
