We'll soon be updating the lighting in our basement rec room, which will make the yucky almond color of the metal grid stand out, in a baaad way. I want it to be white, like the ceiling tile panels and the framing of the LED pot style lights we'll be adding in place of the old fluorescent panels & their plastic lenses.

Some people prime and paint them these metal T bar supports, which might be essential if a specific color match was necessary, but that's not our situation. Lots of labor required for this approach, and even though I like painting, I feel tired just thinking about arranging adequate drop-cloths in our huge room, and all the other prep.

Another approach is using vinyl grid covers meant to "snap" over the grid pieces, whether they are "clean or dirty." (Here is the link to this product on the Home Depot website.) But I read that once these are in place, sometimes the tiles don't seat as well as they used to....

Yet another option is an adhesive tape designed to cover only the exposed part of the T bar drop ceiling grid, which apparently must be carefully cleaned for the adhesive to work properly. (Here is a link to see this product.)

Seeking advice on any other solutions, pros & cons, lessons-learned, inspiration, or other experiences from those who have addressed this situation!
