We had the same thing in our bedroom and liked it.....just treat it as one long dresser...lamp on each end etc.

Why not consider bachelor's chests for either side of the bed instead? Usually, the nightstands are too short for the height of today's beds anyway.

Antiques would be perfect, either side by side or as nightstands. Six board chests are great, one at the foot of the bed or under each window. Ours hold linens for each bedroom and the cat’s bed as a bonus! With antiques, no one expects them to match. This is a great time to bargain with dealers. Most of my furniture is antique, collected over time and at greatly reduced prices over the cost of new, more poorly constructed furniture. I have a solid walnut four drawer dresser that cost $150. My house tells me what it needs. Your 1855 house knows its style!

Thanks so much everyone! It's a small room with a sloped ceiling over the bed so I can't put dressers on either side of the bed, has to be small night stands. I have one wall that can take about 6' of dresser(s) and is normal height. Will keep looking but glad to hear you aren't opposed to 2 matching dressers side by side! Thanks!

it can absolutely work, but you will want to make sure the dressers dont have a lip at the top so they can be pushed up together seamlessly without any see thru area at the top.
