Help! Tall Headboard with small nightstands Lamp size dilema? Scale ?

I am looking for lamps for my guest bedroom. Below is a picture of my headboard. The room has a coastal feeling with the same bedding in the Serena and Lily photo. It is small guest room with 8 ft. ceilings. I have the same bedside tables and rattan stools in picture 1. My question is should the lamps be below the top of the Headboard? I purchased lamps that are 1 inch above the headboard and the scale looks wrong. Going back to the store. Also lamp suggestions would be appreciated

Can you post a picture of the bed with the lamps as it looks now?

This is the bedroom so far. I don't really like the lamps in the picture.

Try finding lamps with medium/large white shades, the tops of which will be the same height as the headboard.

you have a very nice light and airy room, and i agree the lamps are not quite right... I think for me the shape is off , a more column style I think will be better and a bit more substantial.for the bed. heres a few ideas...

Pretty room. I don't care for the lamps much either. They also take up valuable space on a smaller size nightstand. How about pretty rattan hanging lights instead? I'm seeing a lot of this look lately and I think it would be pretty with rattan shades.

Tall skinny lamps (buffet lamps) or swing arm lamps mounted to wall for a nightstand that is so small

Hight wise, the bottom of the shade should be between shoulder and eye level if you were sitting in the bed. You dont want the shade to start above eye level or else you will be blinded. The overall height should be about less than half the height of the nightstand and the overall width about half the width of the nightstand.

These are just some guidelines and feel free to break the rules as needed if you find something you love but there are tons of options out there.

I like the idea of a rattan material. What about hanging rattan Pendant lights?

I think something rattan would be perfect.

I like the 1st one. The frosted globe will keep the light from being too harsh.

Actual Size: 11"Hx13"Wx13"D Rattan pendant in the first picture with the globe

2nd picture Actual size: Overall product dimensions: 18”diam. x 16”-88"h.

    • Shade dimensions: 18”diam. x 14”h.

I would think the smaller would be better. You don't want it to be too big. The lamp is pretty but the flared shades take up a lot of room.

love the idea of a hanging rattan light too, better than the table lamp idea for sure. will look fabulous with your tall headboard

Yes you could do the hanging pendant lights, but I'd look for ones that don't expose the bulb too much. Too much glare.

The price on some of these wicker pendants is ridiculous. I tried to find selections for under $100 which is even too much. IKEA is always a good source, but don't discount Walmart, Lowes, HD, Target etc.
