Do you have a photo of the whole slab?

We have seen totally messed up jobs on this forum and yours doesn't get into that category at all. Your poll choices are at opposite ends of the spectrum! Your installation looks nice. Could it have been a tiny bit better? Maybe. Maybe not.

What did they do with that 5" hanging off the end of the "L"?

Visually -- and this is coming from more of an "I notice things that appear off" perspective -- the flow from counter to splash seems fine. Part of the offset could be due to the counter sitting again the wall, and the thickness of the backsplash covering up part of the pattern. It's sitting forward of the actual point of continuous pattern, so the flow is going to be a bit offset just due to the nature of how it is being applied.

It's nearly perfect. The slab has depth (it's not a piece of paper), the saw blade removes a small amount of material, and presumably the backsplash is sitting on top of the counter and not just touching at the junction (like a fold). The only way to get it any more perfect would be to buy another identical slab and use that for the backsplash so that the the template for that piece could be shifted over to accommodate the material lost during cutting and the "lost" part of the pattern due to the thickness of the slab and the fact that it cannot be folded but rather the splash piece sits on top of the counter piece.

Thanks everyone. Good information/feedback. @Joseph Corlett, LLC they ended up doing the "L" portion as a separate piece so they could use the same slab for the counter and backsplash for the longer kitchen sink portion.
