We are rebuilding our deck and need to decide on a railing for our front porch between the 4" posts. I initially thought stainless steel cable railing would look nice, however, now I'm wondering if it will look too open and bare. Would wood be a better choice for more balanced look? I'm starting to think cable railing may be better suited to a back of the house deck where you may want unobstructed views. I want the front of our house to feel "right" architecturally.

Note:

We plan to wrap the area below the stairs with siding. The house body will be painted Grizzle Gray (med-dark gray) and trim will be Sealskin (med-dark brown) from Sherwin Williams. The deck will be an espresso stain/Charwood from Sherwin Williams.
