From time to time we post rose book recommendations. I have another one to add to the list.

The Rose Doctor by Gary A. Ritchie

As the title suggests, it is a book on various rose ailments. I find that I prefer it to the Compendium of Rose Diseases and Pests, 2nd edition. It is more approachable, for one. The Compendium is much more technical, though clearly written and understandable. But it is not an easy read. It's nice to have both, but if I could only have one, I think I'd pick the Doctor.
