Cabinet layout and island help!

Hi --- here's a layout that my architect drew up for the kitchen we're building. I'm stuck as I'm not 100% happy with it and keep trying to figure out where to put different cabinets. ANY IDEAS? What do you think?

Thoughts on reworking the cabinet layout and the size of the island (I think it is massive and I really only need 4 seats max). The wall cabinets to the left of the window sink I would like to be glass as you can see those upon entering the house. The sink, range, refrigerator and pantry must stay where they are. I love to cook so access to pots and cooking utensils is important. I also bake and would like to place a appliance lift cabinet for the mixer. I have a 30 inch drawer microwave already.

Is there enough space between the outside cabinets and the island? Struggling and I've seen some great help on other layouts. Thanks a bunch!

To help you, we need more information. We have a "Layout Help" FAQ that will be helpful. I'll summarize the main points here and link to the FAQ for further reading. We also have a set of Kitchen Design Best Practices/Guidelines that will help you understand the comments/questions you will be getting.

First, we need a fully-measured layout of the spaces under consideration and a sketch of the entire floor the Kitchen is on.

By "fully-measured", I mean a layout with the widths of each wall/window/door/doorway and the distances between each wall/window/door/doorway labeled. See a sample at the end. Include trim in window/door/doorway measurements. For windows, include how high off the floor they are. If something cannot be moved or changed, label it precisely on your layout (see the "post" in the sample layout) and tell us why it cannot be moved/changed -- we may have some ideas for you.

The sketch of the entire floor lets us see how the Kitchen relates to the rest of the home. It doesn't have to be to-scale, but it should accurately show how the rooms all relate to each other and should include all interior & exterior doors (or how to get to them if they're on a separate floor). In addition, it will help us see how traffic flows in, around, and through the Kitchen and the rest of the home. Include the front entry and family entry, if different. The family entry is usually a garage or side entry, but it might not be. It's helpful to know which door you use to bring in groceries.

Other questions...
- Tell us about you and your family and how you plan to use your Kitchen. All-adults? Empty Nesters? Children (now or in the future)?
- What appliances (& their sizes) do you plan to have?
- Where are you flexible? Can walls/windows/doors/doorways change (move, change size, add, delete)?

I would move the DW to the left of the sink, to get it out of the prep space. You could consider a dish hutch, which sits on the counter. To keep the sink centered on the window, you'd need a narrow pull-out, or slot for cutting boards and sheet pans, and a wider trash pull-out:

Architects are generally very poor KDs so get an actual KD all those lower cabinets should be drawers for starters . You never should have to pass the cooking area to get from the fridge to the sink . That walk in pantry is ahuge waste of space and why can’t things be moved this isa new build is it not and if so this is the time to get it right. Maybe some more explanation is needed.
