Laundry cabinet makeover?

Hi, I'm looking for advice regarding our laundry room cabinetry. Most houses in our area in our price range have solid wood cabinetry. Ours are melamine. I'm definitely going to upgrade the countertops, but can anything be done to the cabinetry short of tearing them out and replacing them? Thanks.
