UrbanFloor Flooring

Two questions:

Has anyone installed UrbanFloor flooring recently? Are they pleased with product?

Can anyone tell me where their flooring is made? I saw one post
Saying he recalls they are made in China but can’t find this info anywhere on their website.

Hi Jill, we just looked at this line today. Rep told us it was made in Cambodia. Did you end up going with it and are you pleased? We're still considering

No, I’m looking for American made. Still looking. Super frustrating!

Considering California Classics, Mediterranean Line. We are about two months away from interviewing kitchen designers. Plan on starting reno first quarter of next year.

Yep, we looked at that line too. Not sure where it’s made. Graf Custom Hardwoods is American made and really beautiful, but a bit more than we want to spend. :/
    Good luck to you!

And to you, Linda! Please post when you make a decision or learn more.

Hi @Jill Hilts @Linda Did you guys end up deciding on floors? I'm looking into Urban floors and California classics as well. My concern with Mediterranean is the distress/knotty nature of it. Thanks!

Hi Zhen! We just hired a design/build firm for a March 2021 start on our Reno. The designer will help us select flooring and I imagine floors will be one of the last decisions. I know what you mean about CA Classics, Mediterranean. They have too much character for me as well. I’m using the photo for the color of stain I’m going for. My sister looked into Urban Floors but found what she was looking for elsewhere. I’ll ask her who she is using.

    @Zhen Ding

We also felt the Mediterranean was too knotty (for us) so we ended up getting Mirage Flooring (white oak, rift and quartered). We're super happy with it! It has more of a matte finish (but not too dull) which we wanted because we have a large dog and were worried about scratches on a glossier finish. It also has a thicker wear layer than the Mediterranean.

The picture doesn't do it justice, I would recommend seeing it in person if you can. Good luck to you and @Jill Hilts!

Also, @Jill Hilts picking floors can be hard! Be sure they give you plenty of heads up - we felt rushed. I was willing to hold up the job because floors are important but we got super lucky finding these after 2-3 weeks of looking.

Linda- thank you for the tip!

My sister is going with Urban Floors. She bought through a company in Burbank called US Flooring, referred by her Pilates teacher 😊. Hers are being installed the day after Christmas. Her house is mid century so she went with a blonde maple.

Thank you @Jill Hilts and @Linda! We are looking at a mid January install so I'm stressing trying to decide on something. Jill, would love to see how your sister's floor works out for her. I was looking through Prosource in North Hollywood and they said they stopped working with UrbanFloors so I was mildly concerned. @Linda do you mind sharing roughly how much they quoted you for Mirage? I love their floors also, but I went to one place that was quoting like $10/sqft which is more than we were expecting for floors. UrbanFloors seemed more in the $6-7 range. Your Mirage floors look so nice! Does it hold up well with your dog? (I have toddlers who are probably even more destructive...sigh). Thank you so much!!

Will do Linda! Now I’m concerned about Urban Floors for my sister. That said, she does even more research than I do and I am very through.

I was looking at Lazio by UrbanFloors which is a classic golden oak color. It seemed pretty good quality so I’m hoping maybe it was just a fluke with Prosource 😂 another distributor said it was one of their top sellers, so I’m very hopeful!

@Zhen Ding we went overbudget on the floors for sure, $10.90 sqft. Waaaaayyyy more than we wanted to spend. Floors and windows are where we broke the budget but as I mentioned, we have a large dog and 3 kids. Can't complain.

Hi Linda. Thank you! Glad to know the Mirage is holding up! They really do make beautiful floors, that was the first one I saw... but put down because of the price, but they really are the cleanest by far.

@Jill Hilts what flooring did you end up going with and how do you like it? Thank you!

@Linda do you have the specific color or further detail on the Mirage floors you pictured? They are beautiful, but when I look through Mirage's website, the White Oak R&Q pulls a few different options. Do you have a weblink to the specific ones pictured? Thank you! :-)

@Linda if you have any more pictures, I'd love to see (the Mirage website ones are look very fake). How are the floors holding up after a year? Thanks!

jysoccer- we went with Panaget Oak Classic Topaze Diva. We have it at the house but it’s not installed yet. We expect floors to be installed before year end, will post photos then. They carry a premium line that are knot free, this is what we ended up getting and it’s beautiful.

    Thank you!

@Jill Hilts - Panaget floors are very nice (made in France?), so did you give up on the US made floor search? Also, how does your sister like her Urban Floors? Thanks again!

@Linda - Do you have any additional pictures (natural and artificial light)? I love the picture you posted, but the sample I got at the store looks so different, so real life photos are very helpful! Thank you again!

jysoccer- yes, Panaget flooring is milled and made in France. French Oak. I never found American made White Oak without knots or too much character. My sister loves her Urban Flooring. Her floors are very blonde, perfect for her MCM home.

@Linda Thank you! It looks like you go the "character brushed", correct? And it's not too "knotty"? It looks like there are few knots and they are not too dark? Also, just to confirm as well - it looks more 'natural' than 'golden' - is that correct? The sample from the store and online look very very gold, so I'm curious which is the more accurate color. Thanks again!

@jysoccer. Yes, we got the natural color and it’s definitely not too knotty. There are some boards with knots but most do not have any. We wanted light character (knots) and it is slightly wire brushed - not too much. It also has a matte finish which we liked. This has a very thick wear layer meaning we can refinish multiple times (years from now of course). Our big dog is 85 pounds and charges the front door when the bell rings and we have been pleased that it doesn’t scratch! Only scratches we have are because a small pebble stuck under a furniture.

@jill Nice! they are very similar to mine but seem a little shinier.

Did anyone else end up with using Urban Floor? We are also considering Lazio from them, but was a little bit hesitant after reading few bad feedbacks in Houzz, mostly about wears of the finish.

have had Lazio for over 10 years , including on the stairs going strong - no finish issues like the bad reviews mentioned (note- its indoor shoes only most of time); I selected this brand and color on sight without an exhaustive search of options and would chose the same if I was to rewind. No regrets.
