Would you consider removing the painting or even the curio cabinet (and then moving the painting into its place). The whole wall looks crowded and is not letting your piano be the star.

I agree. The piano is not the item to stumble over as you enter the room.

I wonder if you could turn the piano just a bit and consider moving the curio to the left (away from it) by a few inches. Then, if the wall looks too crowded, perhaps move the tree somewhere else. I have a similar situation and will post my pic. This is my living room and the space in front of all this is the pass through, but it works really well. We hardly ever lift up the lid though, because of my photos. I think your painting is in a good place. And if you move the tree, perhaps a fern or plant on top of the curio to add some visual interest (so it's not a straight line up top). I'm not a decorator, by the way, just suggesting.

I would like to see the rest of the room to see what else is there, but in general, the piano should be facing the opposite way. The person playing the piano should be facing into the room, not facing the corner.

Even if it is electronic, the piano should be the star in this room and it is not properly placed. Never put the "tail" of it in a corner. the instrument should span a corner, not fit into it. Right now, the open lid is throwing the sound out into the hallway. It should open to throw the sound out into the room. I've not heard any "rule" about large pictures and large furniture not working together. If you must have the curio in the room, I would use it opposite the piano to serve as a visual counter weight to it.

Wow! Thank you for all of your suggestions. Here are some pictures of the entire room. Plan is to replace the settee with a bigger tufted sofa at some point the room is 13x13 and is directly on the left when entering the front door

You might want to consider keeping the lid closed except when playing. It will keep the inside dust free. Also, thoughts on rotating it this way?

You're off to a great start in your living room! Have you tried the curio cabinet where the settee is and maybe the settee in front of the window? That and spin the piano might balance the room better. Not sure about your pretty mirror. My room (pictured above) is an octogon with only two walls out of the 8 (the rest are either doorways, fireplace or windows) and it literally took me moving furniture for days before deciding on the best balance. Don't be afraid to keep on spinning and moving.

Since you are getting a new couch, I’d suggest trying to rearrange room now. Try settee (and eventually your tufted couch) under window, occasional chair to the side per first picture below. You could eventually add an area rug to define the sitting area and drapes would be a nice idea. Your art or mirror next to window and your two pictures side by side on long wall facing entrance.

This arrangement will provide balance, which is needed given the two large pieces on other side of room.

Consider painting room when the time comes and think about how to accessorize to suit new couch

Piano in corner facing in or out and curio located as far down as possible per picture below and centre your art in between If too large, maybe your mirror or two pictures would work there instead.
