Love the combination of your bed and those primitive khaki/gray decorative pillows. I would use that as your inspiration for your bedding. Layer the pillows as three in the back, the two decorative pillows, and one body pillow in gray or something else that works with the selection.

Here are two possible nightstand that would provide you with storage on both sides and complement the bed

I would recommend swing arm wall mounted library lights for either side of the bed if you do any reading and if you want to take advantage of the top of your nightstands for items other than lamps.

Maybe consider black/natural baskets for over the bed for wall decor.

You need color and texture to get the feel you want. What is your budget? Let's play with the layout first. How big is the space between the two doors? It would be great if the desk or dresser could go there. Or, if possible, I'd replace the dresser with a taller armoire, replace the current desk with something that can fit between the two doors, and replace the nightstand with something visually lighter (see image).

If you can't replace furniture, would it work to place the desk under the larger window? It looks so squished in the current location.

At any rate, I'd center the bed on the wall. Add a fluffy bedspread, a new rug (larger!), colorful pillows and throw, some color in your artwork, and draperies. That will give you a more boho coastal feel. See the colorful details in the image below for ideas...

Thank you Sammie. There is no outlet between the doors so I can’t move the desk. Maybe I could try running a plug under the rug though? I will look for a larger rug too. Thanks for your help

I’d switch the rug for something lighter and airier feeling and add a few large pieces art - one above your bed and on above the stools.

To me, boho coastal would be lighter all around, so maybe white or off white night stands and some lamps with bases in a pale blue (or echo the blue bedspread) or green (to compliment it).

Can you fold down the top blanket so that it covers less of the bed, maybe just a third of it or less?

Would the dresser fit on the other wall, between the two doors?

It would fit but it would hover over the top of the molding around the doors instead of nestling into the space

New nightstands and a wonderful large piece of artwork over the bed would brighten it up. I like Ellen’s ^^ question - can the dresser move to between the doors? I also think your coverlet is a kind of drab color and something lighter, even white, would make the bed seem brighter. Or a colorful shawl (with some blue in it) to decorate the end of the bed.

I’d try the dresser there. If it doesn’t impeded movement or fell like you are being blocked when you go in/out the doors, it could be a more aesthetically pleasing spot for it and will make the other wall a lot less busy.

I moved the furniture around and like the new layout. I wonder how it will translate with new nightstands. I worry about too many different woods in the room

I saw the picture of the dresser between the two doors. Doesn't look as if it would feel ideal. Seeing the pic of the open door into the room, I was wondering if you'd ever tried your bed against the large window, almost "tucked" into that window corner. (Might require new window treatments.) I like seeing the head of the bed when walking into a room. The advantage is you could put your dresser and desk on the opposite wall they're on now and they wouldn't be the first thing you saw coming into the room. Might reduce that feeling of clutter. The other solution to achieve that is to be super vigilant about keeping surfaces clear and replacing small pieces of wall art/decor with one larger piece.

You might want to try different furniture layouts on graph paper (with outlets, windows and doors marked) to see just how many options you have. Once the layout is optimized, you can tweak the decor. I really like the idea of matching nightstands as that would also reduce "visual clutter".

Where to begin!? There appears to be a lot of small things including books, decorative items, a stick vacuum, photos with no place to be stored.
Simply making the bed neat each day helps: I have a coverlet very much like yours which I straighten up each day: open it and use it in one layer so it hangs down to cover the sheets and the comforter. Fluff the pillows and stand them against the headboard. Perhaps buy a bed skirt in a complementary color to hide the box spring or platform. Your picture over the nightstand is hidden by the lamp shade. A piece of art or two up above the headboard would help add interest to the bare walls. The window blinds may help with light control, but they add no texture or color. I would add a drapery panel (either operational or simply decorative to the left and to the right of the three windows. Consider the colors of the rug for selecting drapery panels (NOT beige).
