When I did that I just contacted a local farm to see if they could supply me. I'm not near Boston but I know they have (or used to have before the pandemic) that big farmers market every week near Faneuil Hall (just past the Green Dragon Tavern). Maybe you can go there and ask one of the farmers. Otherwise I would look up local farms, or try NOFA Mass's website (https://www.nofamass.org) . I was lucky enough to find a farmer who gave me (a very generous!) 30 pounds for $30, and I got several boxes from him. But I would guess even $2 a pound would be considered a good price. Keep in mind these may be tomatoes the farmer wouldn't sell at market (bruising, funny looking, etc) but still completely usable, especially for canning. Good luck!

Breezy Gardens in Leicester MA (just west of Worcester) is my local place with their own-grown produce. They have offered tomatoes in the past in large quantities suitable for canning. These, as Dee mentioned, are less-than-perfect but excellent for the process. Call first -- it's early yet for tomatoes here - and they are able to do curb-side pickup with notice. Or go into the store with masks/gloves. Family run operation for over 20 years, and great folks!

We used to help my Italian mother-in-law can tomatoes and last year she decided she was getting too old to do it. We missed them so much this year, we are going to go pick up her tomato mill and do it ourselves! She's not local, though, so we can't use her farm source (and before that, all the tomatoes came from her father's back garden!). Thanks again.
