In a few cases w - and then check if you have doubts.here I checked one or the other was required... I agree with PPF above. Ask the builder what code is. (I'd think you'd insist on at least one of them!)

Regardless if it is required by code you absolutely should have one. And one that vents out of the house, not into the attic.

When you say "vent" are you talking about fan based vent for removing air or are you talking HVAC vent?

The vent could be combined with the light.

I’m referring to the vent on the ceiling that removes air and moisture from the bathroom during the shower. Currently the room only has a vanity light an HVAC register.

Whether or not a code plays a part, you definitely need to have a way for moisture to escape in order to help prevent mold.

Code is the worst that a builder is legally allowed to get away with. Just because something meets code doesn't mean that it's good or what you want.

Code or not (and window or not) you want a powered exhaust in every 3/4 or full bath (and IMO every 1/2 as well). The only exception I would make is in a local where windows are kept open nearly 100% of the time so that the space is effectively outdoors.

Thanks everyone for your input. I was looking over the building plans and it does show a bathroom fan. I’m thinking it was somehow overlooked. Strange it passed pre-drywall inspection.

You need to have a vent in the ceiling.

Maybe the vent is combined with the light fixture. I have one of those in my water closet.
