Anyone sewing this weekend?

I got my embroidery digitizing software working today and tried it out on a design for GrammyP and her trail quilts. The software had acted up the last time I used it and I had to uninstall and reinstall today to get it to work. GrammyP's blocks are stitching out now. I was going through some containers and found that I have hundreds of string blocks, 4 patches and orphan blocks. I am going to bring all of those to retreat and make something out of them. :) I was going to quilt today but we have been stormy, so I do not want to turn on my longarm. Maybe tomorrow I can quilt.

I hemmed a pair of pants. Does that count?

i was going to work on DGDs quilt but I had to clean up the work area first, then got discouraged and packed it in.

    maybe tomorrow.

I am cutting some squares for a couple I Spy quilts, but not sewing yet.

Our sweet dog got sick last night with sudden onset vestibular syndrome. It is basically vertigo, but we thought she had a stroke. Talked to the ER vet and went through her symptons and they reassured us we could wait until today to bring her in. It was bizarre. She was perfectly fine, then when dinner time came, she tried to stand up and lost her balance and fell over. She wobbles and her eyes twitch and she kind of goes in circles and falls over. (like a drunk with none of the fun!) Vomiting all night wasn't fun either. ANYWAY, almost 3 hours at the vet this morning and she is on anti-nausea meds and a mild sedative to keep her calm today. Lots of sleeping and we have to put a harness on her to help her walk. She is 13 years old and this is apparently fairly common in older dogs. 7-14 days recovery if we are lucky.

    Maybe more sewing tomorrow.

Sorry you hear about your dog, Sue. It is hard to see them age.

A friend called today and asked if I could make some masks for Backpacks Because. Our church prepares school backpacks for needy kids. I committed to 10, had them done in a couple of hours and called back saying I would do 10 more. They are only planning on putting them in the high school packs at this time. I might get going on some smaller sizes in case they move down through the grades.

I made a backing a couple of days ago and need to cut the batting. Maybe while I'm in the sewing room, I'll cut that. I've been having so much fun in the garden, I hate to come in to sew.

My hubby and I took my Hinterberg frame apart last weekend and tightened everything up. He glued a piece that had splintered off a long time ago, too. Yesterday I quilted a small quilt and it was SOOOO much better! I’m thinking about getting a new frame. The H is at least 17 years old and I know improvements have been made in all that time.

Does anyone here have a Grace frame? I’m looking at their Continuum model.

    I’ve also been cross stitching.

Sue, how scary for you! I hope your doggie recovers soon.

I try to do something with fabric every day whether it's mindless sewing, fondling fabric, moving piles of fabric around, cutting, auditioning, or downright just thinking what I should do! Yesterday, I decided on the narrow border for that bright yellow, orange, and blue thing I'm putting together with a medallion, long ago won Depression Blocks, and a couple sample blocks that just happen to fit. Maybe I'll get that sewed on today so I can start the next round with red and yellow 6.5" 9-patches.

Sue, I'm so sorry about your dog. It's good the vomiting can be stopped and she can be kept calm.

I'm sitting here at my computer waiting to get inspired to do some sewing - either masks for my daughter and son-in-law or a quilt. I hope inspiration comes. It's been sadly lacking these days.

Oh,Sue, poor Penny. Hope she makes a full recovery.

Bev, I made masks for the grands for school, now the school says only solid colors allowed. So I'm starting over.

Donna, I have a Hinterberg frame, too. I'm considering upgrading and going for 12 foot.

Sharon, you are always putting together something bright and beautiful.

Lois, sometimes you just gotta back your ears and go at it with no inspiration.

No sewing this weekend. Canned some green beans, squash in the freezer, picked lots of okra, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Got 4 watermelons and 2 cantaloupe, but they aren't quite ready to cut yet. The heat has killed the squash and zucchini, and the rest isn't looking very good. Gotta work Monday and Thursday this week, but Tuesday is sew day at church.

Grammyp, are you going with a new Hinterberg? I'm looking at the Grace Continuum because I can use the machine I already have, and upgrade to their Qnique machine later if I decide to. I think I'll call them today or tomorrow. My birthday's coming up in a few weeks. :):):) LOL
