I am replacing a wood garage door with another wood garage door that got damaged. The weather seal at the bottom came off in one place and so water ingressed there, got soaked up by the door, and damaged it. It's a rental house so I'm not there on a daily basis to monitor it.

Would an additional seal (I'm assuming the replacement garage door will come with its own seal) provide an additional level of assurance. I need things to be low maintenance since I am not there to monitor.

Are there any downsides to something like these seals (ie do they make things worse than not having it; again if I'm not there to monitor, don't want it causing more problems than they solve).
