I'm not so good with colors and finishes. I like painted cabinets, but yours are very nice and appear to be in great shape. I think I'd replace the backsplash and maybe the corbels and skin on the island back.

I agree with Mama Goose. Although your goldish granite might be hard to match up with a tile. Do you know what granite it is?

Paint cabinets off white - it will look fabulous. Not stark white but not yellow white - more soft white

I agree with not painting the cabinets but changing backsplash, adding different hardware, and possibly painting the walls a different color. While I do think your kitchen would look good with painted cabinets, I think the cabinets as is look really nice so why bother with that. There is always the chance that the paint job does not work as well, so keep it simple. Hardware is a very easy change, and from what I understand changing a backsplash is not so major an ordeal either. Both of those will give a lot of bang for the buck.

Wood stained cabinets are trending in a big way. Yours look like they are in great shape and I probably would not touch them. If you must, I agree that a soft white would look good. You have so much light in your kitchen that I do think black would be great but I don't think I'd like it with your granite. I'd replace your backsplash... go to a tile store, bring home some samples and see what you think. People on here are always happy to chime in.

I'd also remove the corbels on your island and update your hardware to a polished nickel.
