We're putting wainscoting up our staircase and entry hallway. Looking for what's the trend now and settle a debate between me and my husband. Our staircase looks like the attached image of wainscoting, not yet painted.

Questions:

• Which panel do you recommend of the two samples below? -- The left one or right one?
• What's the trend on the chair rail molding at the top of the panel? I don't like bulky ones. We chose a medium-sized one with small ledge.
• What do you think of the transition of the chair rail in this unpainted wainscoting image? Is that right?
