Why can’t you lay on the faucet end? The faucet is to the side.

Buy a taller faucet that doesn’t stick out so far and it will be fine.

I don’t think this is wrong - the faucet placement is where you would need to reach to turn the tub on to begin with. Prop up in the opposite corner and watch your tv or candles at the other end. Problem solved.

I’m sort of surprised that you think this is the wrong direction. I want the faucet at my feet - and my head and arms opposite so that there is a place to put my glass?

Do you want to crawl into the tub to just turn on the faucet? I also wouldn’t want to face a wall as I’m soaking.

Mine faces the same way as yours. I do not have a problem with it.

Jo, if yours is like this, then how do you watch the lovely candles or TV and reach for the glass of wine when all if it is BEHIND you??

Stacy Montgomery, yes the faucet is at my feet, that IS appropriate. What I'm saying is that the space where all the candles, etc., are to be placed is behind my back, OUT of the line of sight. Just plain old stupid and incompetent, whoever designed it this way. I really wish I had noticed it BEFORE I bought.

Wall mount the TV.

Add a mirror so you can see the candles behind you. Put some more candles on the tile along side you, and at your feet. Add a shelf for candles on the wall you face.

Buy a bath wine holder. if you like, but I think there's room for a wine glass on the tile. Having all this stuff at your feet is less convenient anyway.

I do not watch tv or drink wine in the tub. I place a small candle by the faucet. You could always get a small table to place your glass and candle, and mount the tv.

suedonim75 -- I explained that in the edit I posted today and showed an inside pic of the tub. Sitting on the faucet end would obviously be uncomfortable and I would be unable to recline at that end, as the picture clearly shows. No, the tub is not backward, it's just positioned incorrectly. It was my mistake to say it was backward when actually the tub is just poorly positioned. I corrected that in the title. Tiled platform should have been put on the right side, NOT the left. See third picture of white tub. That's how mine should have been laid out -- that photo clearly shows that the person soaking in the tub would be FACING the tiled platform so it is in the line of sight. I'm sorry I didn't notice this defect until AFTER I bought the place. Will cost me a lot to reposition.

Partim, thank you for an actually useful answer. Looking at the candles in a mirror and installing a TV is less than ideal, but it looks like I'll have to be stuck with doing that unless I want to lay out big $$$ to reposition the tub to the way it should have been. And I never knew about bath wine holders before. Thanks for that. I probably won't install a TV there but I think it's a great idea to install some shelves.

nice picture on the wall at the faucet end, with a couple of shelves for votive candles -- done! sorry you're upset, but hopefully the rest of the house will fit the bill.

You can open up tub deck and run water line to side of drain. i did this is a few hours. i had removed old maroon tile, extended water line and made new faucet setup. Then instead of retiling i had solid surface installed

If you intend to re-tile anyway, then you'll probably have to reside/deck the tub. So sliding it over should be fairly straightforward. The plumber should just need to install some extensions to the drain and supply pipes.

I actually don't think I'm going to add a TV. Access panel is behind the wall where the mural is. Thanks. Your responses actually encouraged me. The insulting responses are useless and have been reported.

@Michelle Rizzo I really like Beverly's idea of shifting the tub to the left and have the deck at your feet, whether you watch TV, or a movie from your lap top or just watch the flickering flames of candles with a glass of wine.
