I'm thinking of widening the front "apron" a couple of feet +, moving the hosta back further 6 + inches from the road and when (in the not too distant future I have to do some more dividing I can pick out the nicest Iris (maybe transplant some in not-so-great locations, or even good locations) and have a "halo" (I was going to say Corona) of beautiful Iris. .Sounds like a plan to me. - Jon 😌😇😌

Your Ivory Coasts look so majestic planted there together. Your future plan sounds like a great idea. Maybe a bit of work, but hey.....you just dug out 150 iris bulbs.......no task too big apparently!!

Thanks Deb the hosta in the background are Sagae. I have three other new Ivory Coast just out of the picture frame on the right. They are doing well, but need some time to get nice. I pace myself. The iris took one afternoon and one morning. I hope it will look nice, I don't think I can miss with all those flowers. - Jon

Beautiful Ivory Coast. I'm giving up on my iris except for one bed. There's just not enough sun and they barely survive. You're lucky to have both sun and shade.

Miles and digger, my late friend I worked with (Bill Godfrey) and his wife started up a hybrid Iris farm (Hermit Meddlars Walk). They always had Iris and actually bought another house to have more room for their collection. People driving by would stop and ask if they were for sale. They sat down and said they had to decide if they should make it a business or just keep it as a hobby and they became very successful doing something they enjoyed and made some money in their retirement. They are bearded Iris. Unfortunately Bill and Ana are no longer with us. I have planted others but those I have from them have a very special meaning to me and shame on me for not taking better care of them.

There, that looks better. I'll spread some bark mulch if it stops raining. 95 degrees yesterday, it wasn't much fun especially in the Sun. In the Fall I'll move the Hosta back and closer together and then have an area to go ahead and clog up with more 'stuff'. - Jon

It's so great to have friends like that. I have a friend, Curt Hanson at Crintonic Gardens that hybridizes daylilies. His daylilies are on the cutting edge of the new sculptural forms. I love to go out to his place and see his rows of daylilies. He also has his own hostas, but none are for sale. Just when I think that it can't get better he introduces better and better plants. You're lucky to grow bearded irises--mine always got wiped out by the iris borers. I can't believe that you are actually out there in the heat. When it gets above 90, I just can't do much outside. I am still thinking about ordering some additional plants but I don't know if I want to deal with anything else right now since I have two large daylily beds that need to be redone.

It's nice to be able to keep in touch with good friends. At this point with Bill gone it's nice to have something to remind me of him every Spring when the Iris pop up,

not that I would ever forget him. .
