Help with my ivy

Hello! I bought this Ivy exactly a week ago and it's been on a bookshelf that is facing east. I noticed 3 days in it started looking droopy. The soil felt dried so I watered it. The next morning I noticed it perked back up. And then the day after it started looking droopy again! The soil feels dry again but it's hard to believe it has to be watered again. From what I'm reading Ivy doesn't require alot of water and likes to be on the dry side. I live in Colorado and it's very dry here. I don't want to overwater it and kill it. I don't know what is going on with this guy!
