My plan is to stay away from SoCAl!! Those are brutal temps! Good luck keeping your garden alive and semi-happy.

Here in the heartland we seem to be locked into a below average temp and above average rain trend for the last week and the next 2. This has happened for at least 3 years in a row here where June and most of July is very hot and then the last half of summer is relatively pleasant.

I roasted in the 74f heat of the bay area! Whoa,could hardly take it. I had to remove my sweater.

All that south and continental heat is causing this unending onshore flow here and mid 70's..not one single 80f now for weeks. Almost 2 months without as much as a single 90f this summer.

So far this week we're having cooler than normal temperatures -- I've had to put on a light sweater when in the yard late afternoon / early evening.

June gloom has returned.

We're breaking heat records here in Phoenix - 118°. We just don't go outside much these days. Between covid, the heat and the air quality index.....it's a good time to break out the old jigsaw puzzles. :-)

We have had pretty nice weather (inland valley) but now it's heating up. Everything is watered up pretty well. Just saying inside.

@gobluedjm 9/18 CA Same here! Oh the voles and birds! They are out big time. Totally decimated 3 huge Amaranth, and I wish they would take the entire fig instead of leaving a little inedible parts. Those go to worm feeding time. Also, I never knew they would plow through dahlias. So sad. Must be thirsty.

We have put up a couple umbrellas for shading the tomatoes, but we don't have enough.

Pretty darn hot for us, too! We're just east of Pasadena. The one nice thing is our house is cool and comfy at night. We turn our ac and the ceiling fan does its magic. Have to admit the sprinklers and any hand watering have been more frequent.

We are at 76 this afternoon -- up from 68 degrees of a few days ago.

We got up to about 87 on Saturday (the hottest day), but it was cooler on Sunday. I watered the plants a bit more than usual, but otherwise nothing that much out of the ordinary, although temps above 80 are definitely rare here.

June gloom again for the last two days . . .
