Kitchen Refresh. Need 'outside the box' ideas!

I am ready to lighten up my VERY brown kitchen. I'm thinking a basic white Quartz on the island and counter top. Calcutta Quartz full height on the backsplash and wrapping the hood in quartz as well. Brass/gold big modern hardware on the cabinets and new single sink w/ brass faucet. I am in love with this stove. Would the blue work w/ the dark cabinets? should I just paint the hood & not wrap it? (worried it may be over the top to much quartz) Or replace w/ a modern metal hood? Anything out-side of the box I am not thinking of? Our style is Mid Century Modern. Adding a pic of my recently updated living room/ fireplace. (which is, of course, what then made me dislike my kitchen lol)

Well it feels like my kitchen remodel took forever but since my post above was 2 months ago that's not so bad. So, update because I love before & afters: Although I considered reconfiguring the island shape and removing/replacing the bead board after the comments above; now that we are finished I'm happy with the results. (And honestly I didn't want to deal w/ the floors if I changed the island & I am choosing to ignore the bead board which I still do not like). Removing the hood, rebuilding it & wrapping it in statuary marble was quite a costly endeavor but getting rid of that bulky hood & exchanging all the brown for arctic white quartz really lightened the room. We are loving our Hellman range though there is a learning curve! Other updates include new hardware, new blanco sink, added a pot filler & new faucet.

To achieve modern, you need to get rid of the molding and so on on the hood, so may as well build a new one in quartz if you have the budget, it will be monumental!

Can you do anything about the beadboard? Maybe it's not as noticeable in person but it also reads as "not-modern" to me.

Your kitchen is really nice. For it to meld with your living room, I would purchase mid century leather-like barstools that match your couch. Change the bead board on the peninsula out to plain white with a pattern. Put in a modern stainless steel hood. I don't think the blue stove would work well. Just stainless steel would do.

that stove would be waste with that island configured as it is. you wouldn't be able to see it! Is there anyway you can redo the island? that curved area with the headboard isn't the least bit MCM. you need sharper lines and a more modern looking cabinet design.

any way you could do this, or move the sink, or, how about doing an island?

I'm confused by this. I see it's storage, but why the weird angles and placement?

I'd reconfigure this whole peninsula/or make an island thing before I did anything else.

Ugh your both right about the beadboard. Adding that to the list. I think I've decided today to rip out the range hood & start fresh. Hopefully wrapped in porcelain. let's see what the bid comes back at! 😅 I'm also concerned the blue stove may not jive. Yet I still haven't ruled it out lol.

The biggest problem I see is that curved peninsula. IMO that area needs to be totally reworked before you spend money on anything.

actually, the way you now have the island styled w/the lighter countertop and chairs, makes a huge difference in the overall look. While that beautiful stove still can't be easily seen, the overall change is quite the improvement! Stove is beautiful and so is the hood. (the fabricator who cut that backsplash leading up to the vent hood did a wonderful job of coordinating the veining!)

The before and after are a complete 180!
