Sargent is more or less a form rather than a specific cultivar. You don’t say where you are but they do well here in full sun or part shade.

Yes - multiple different cultivars have all been grown as 'Pendula', with Sargent being a common name for them. And which particular clone each of yours is should have no bearing on their cultural requirements.

conifers are trees .. and in the appropriate location ... all prefer full sun .. unless color is off green then some yellows may either burn in too much sun.. or green in too much shade ...

beyond that.. i think you are confusing tolerance with specific needs ...

the reason hemlocks are so wanted.. is that they tolerate shade ... that might slow annual growth ... but otherwise.. they will cope with it ... many other conifers and tress will not .. they wont die.. they just wont grow to expectation ...

all that said.. always take your common name to a search engine.. and find the latin name .. imo.. any site that doesnt add the latin name.. is probably a waste of time ... and never rely on mass produced marketing tags ...

up as far north ass you are... i dont see why it shouldnt be able to deal with full sun ... but.. the PNW marches to its own drummer.. so lets see if any of those peeps chime in.. right embo????

First, let me assure that not all conifers prefer full sun! Some are extremely shade tolerant and a few actually prefer some shade. Hemlocks are one of the genera that tend to be very shade tolerant and in our climate do fine in partial or dappled shade. In fact, because of our typically very dry summers, some shade is preferred, as they dislike dry soils that might be found in more open, sunny locations.

And planting here is not restricted by seasons. You just need to be prepared to water as often as necessary if planting in summer. (I just got done planting a whole slew of stuff today!!)
