straight down pix are tough.. but is the the lowest set of leaves ... if so.. its not uncommon ...

@ken_adrian yes most of the yellow leaves are the oldest ones. So no way to avoid that and I should not worry about it?

The container mix is 1/3 peat, 1/3 turface, and 1/3 pumice. That is a wet soil but roses seem to like well-drained moisture-retentive soil. In any case, this is just an experiment.

So far, this soil is doing the best. The big surprise for me so far has been that 5-1-1 mix has gone nowhere. The plant (identical species from the identical grower) in that soil has not grown at all and looks like it is in shock.

the leaves might be a stress reaction.. minor.. relating back to planting ... i dont think you told us when that went down ...

@ken_adrian I planted these roses in the shade in June. I have not exposed them to sun because I want to give the roots a chance to establish.
