If the soil is wet in the pot don't water it more - keeping it too wet will make it rot! I would keep the plant in the shade and cut off some of the lower foliage (it will probably die back anyway) to balance the top growth with the root system. Whenever possible spray the foliage with water from a hose - syringing the tops of wilted plants that have lost some roots helps them greatly! Don't keep the soil soggy wet the whole time - - - it is easier to revive a wilted plant from dryness than it is to revive a rotten one caused by being kept too wet too long. It would actually benefit the plant to allow the soil to dry out a bit now, but spray the leaves with water - they are tough.

These are pretty tough plants. May look worse for the wear this year but should bounce back just fine next year. Digging/transplanting it this time of year is not likely to be the death of it. Not hardly.

perhaps you could tie the foliage together

like when transplanting a leafed out Hosta, that would minimize air movement

and remove buds/seed heads, and perhaps a third of the leaves

they seem to pfrefer to be transplanted in spring,

so if you transplant in fall, insulate with mulch and cut off any remaining/ showing buds.

apart from that I had some in a bad, too dry spot, shovel pruned them (at least thought so) and had some regrow like 2 y later...

Water the heck out of it and mist leaves frequently.

I had to move some things to save them from being trampled with a siding project a few years ago. I put all in big galvanized washtubs (was all I had of anything of size) with a couple of inches of water in them, full shade in a carport. The 'two or so weeks' morphed into more than a month. I lost only one delphinium out of a couple of dozen perennials. Noting: my climate more mild than yours.

Yes, you CAN water something to death in two weeks!
