Thank you for these responses so far! If you can elaborate on why you chose the style you chose, that would be most helpful as I try to figure this out. For example, I see Cape Cod in the high pitch roof, symmetrical dormers (yes, there is one on the right hiding behind the tree), and center-placed front door, but maybe the white wood frame of the front door is more Colonial? I would love to see how all of you are processing the architectural elements as well.

Really ??? It is a mix of styles and if you love it really what difference does it make what style it is ? I think over the years owners have added what they like.

Are you preparing it for market and need a label on it? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.I would prefer it without those low profile dormers (especially the one sitting on top of the gutter.) If you ever remodel, put a shed dormer all across the back instead.

Very charming house. I would say it is a Colonial revival style. Very popular in the first half of the last century and common today. It even has Georgian details like the symmetry and the pediment over the door.

To answer some of the questions - we are not preparing this for the market, I am simply very interested in understanding the history, architectural elements, and how it sits in its environment with other houses, just like @flopsycat1 said (thank you for that!).

I am from the East Coast and see a lot of brick Cape Cod in this house, but it sits in a geographic area in the West where small-scale Tudors are very prominent, hence the potential identity crisis of the home!

@Patricia Colwell Consulting There actually have not been many adjustments/additions to the view you have of this house. I saw an image of this in its original state (1939), and it is almost identical to how it is today. Very cool!

@decoenthusiaste there actually is a shed dormer on the back already! Good call.
