i tend to agree ... one of the run it over with the truck workhorses.. and it grows like a weed ...

its white centered in spring.. and about this time of year ... the centers start greening up .. so dont be surprised if its not mostly green by fall ...

depending on where you are.. it probably can take full sun in all but the south ...

its planting time.. when hosta grow new roots.. to store energy to pop out next spring ... but it might get ugly if you do that and you are in the south ...

Thank you. I should have put that I’m in 5b/6a zone. They recently changed our zone.

z5 is about half the US ... and widely variable ... big city name would be better ... its sun intensity im wondering about ... e.g. z5 north MI is a bit lower intensity.. than z5 MO ... etc ... there is also the ground freeze thing.. but thats not important here .. just another example ...

hostalibrary.org is a great place to go and check out suggested identifications; from what I see there, I doubt it's undulata anything (there are four different ones pictured).

I usually find it helpful to look not only at the pictures but to click the MyHostas.net database link on each page, to see details like size, vein count, commercial sales descriptions, etc. Pictures seem to vary greatly depending on maturity of the plant being photographed and site and season conditions.

I was going to guess 'Geisha' because it is certainly similar to one I have, but when I went to hostalibrary.org to check, I saw that mine is indeed more like the first picture of Geisha - more of the gold/lime in the middle, with streaks. But the comment there is that there are a number of plants being marketed as Geisha and they don't all look the same. Yours looks more like the sixth picture down on that page.

Good luck! Whatever it is, it certainly is attractive. I love all the streaks, and I'm sure once you get it in the ground it will fill out wonderfully.

Undulata is a great hosta. I have one, which has become 4, from my mother. It changes throughout the season, which makes it fun to admire. It is steady and reliable. In the spring, it is a white-centered beauty. I also like when it is streaked green at this time of year. Good purchase!
