Is the mantle wood or stone?

Wood. I could re-stain it or paint it white, but I don’t know how that’ll look since the fireplace is black.

I think the offender that is bringing the room down is the wall with the fireplace. How about start by painting it the same Manchester tan and the two window boxes in the white trim color. Mantel in a lighter gray.

Thanks for info. When you have a long room (or garden passage), the far end can either look like the bright light at the end of a tunnel or like a dark dead end. Try taping some white paper towels over the top of the fireplace behind the tv and over the black under- window boxes, then use some beige masking tape to cover the front edge of your mantle. If you like the lighter, brighter look, use white paint that matches your trim for that wall and the same trim paint for your mantle. You may need two coats of primer to cover the green. If the mantle turns out too bright white, use a beige paint color that's taken from the stone in the fireplace.

It definitely looks more like a dead end in the pictures than in real life, but I am loving any ideas people can suggest to turn this room to a more white look! Thanks!!!

I love your fireplace! I would paint the fireplace wall the same as the other walls, get some colorful pillows, and large art over the sofa.
