I am not sure, but during this time of year, when I re-pot a tree, I generally let the tree soak over night in a larger container filled with water.

It would also help to provide some shade for a newly potted plant.

All the leaves are brown problems are common this time of the year after a transplanting citrus trees.

Hi HU-632035243. The repotting is a minor issue. I just repotted 3 mail order 3 weeks ago that came in a box and had no soil by the time they arrived. They are all doing just fine. The heat is exacerbating the problem for sure. The speed at which the leaves turned brown is classic of fertilizer burn. The issue was the fertilizer type, the strength, the proximately to the roots and the additional magnesium. What you used was too high a dose. You should NOT add the fertilizer to the soil. You should fertilizer the top of the soil and away from the center. If things have not changed the only alternative you have is to flush out the fertilizer. Depending on severity at this point you could flush everything out under tap water or flush the pot out with a garden hose. I use to import fertilizers from around the globe looking for that secret recipe and it taught me valuable lessons about burning roots. It got so costly replacing citrus I invested in a Blue Lab Pulse meter and have never burned a plant since. Another thing I am careful with is NOT recycling potting soil because it may contain pockets of fertilizer that will burn roots. Putting it in the shade is a great idea.

If your twigs are green your tree is good. Flush it and place it in shade from 10:00AM till 6:00PM for a week before exposing it to more sun. Careful about watering after the flush. There are no leaves to shed water and the soil will stay wet for a long time. Repeated watering could cause root rot.

before you reuse the potting soil put the pot of soil in a bucket of water and flush out the fertilizer

I only use a teaspoon of epsom salts pe 32 0unces

in with my normal liquid fertilizer

in a spray bottle
