Some will look different in sun than shade. You will have to water lot more.

Fire and Ice will not like a lot of sun. If it’s doing OK where it is then keep it there.

if your maui buttercups is thriving.. i wouldnt touch it ...

otherwise.. not sure i would do it in august.. even up where you are ... you surely dont want them burning and releafing in sept.. wasting all that energy ... move bigger clumps that wont heave in sept ....

I would consider waiting until later in Sept. or wait until spring even better . It may be hard on them moving int0othe sun and not introduced to it from spring on. I have part of my shade that blew down and had to be taken out and they now get more sun then ever this season and seem to be doing just fine . I need to water more but none are burning yet but then that being said we have had so much rain and only really hot the past two or so weeks

My source of this info is from the Rawson’s list on sun tolerant hostas on the front page of the HL. Maui is not thriving exactly, it has lost size along with Fire Island and Stained glass. This probably has more to do with tree roots then. Oh well, I was looking to free up space in the shady front yard for some new ones. Roots are a problem there too, close to the maple, but my other hostas, the bigger ones, are doing fine.
