Help! We removed marble chip vinyl flooring

last modified: 6 years ago

We recently bought a 1960s house and started doing renovation. We had the vinyl sheet flooring in the kitchen tested before we removed it and it was negative. The small master bathroom has stick down vinyl plank and my husband pulled that up so we could do tile. While trying to remove the adhesive he also removed the marble chip vinyl flooring underneath (different than the kitchen). Per a website that identifies asbestos, marble chip flooring almost always has a high % asbestos (20-100%). It's very stiff with a thick gray material underneath the vinyl that seems to still be attached. The kitchen vinyl and backing separated during removal. He did this 3 weeks ago and I just found out about the vinyl (we don't currently live there but go there often to do work). I'm freaking out. How far could the asbestos have spread within the house with the AC on? What about our clothes?
