DIY shower help!

I am remodeling a shower on a slab foundation. The drain flange that is installed is uneven sits too high on one side. I am concerned that when pan liner is installed it will cause pooling that won’t be able to drain into weep holes. Could I do an initial mud bed on slab floor before liner to accommodate for unevenness?

Other solutions besides ripping out drain as it is glued in and drain plumbing is cemented over.

You won't like what I have to say - but here it is anyway... Especially for the DIY consider going with a cast iron base instead.

Look, there's plenty to go wrong with showers. Getting the pan right just eliminates a lot of problems right from the start.

Nothing sucks as bad as having to rip everything out and start over. And know that there's no "repairing" a problem. If the pan leaks - either now or later - you have to rip everything out.

Cast iron pans are sturdy, look great, they slope properly, they don't have membrane issues or sills that swell and crack. They are easier to get the drain right.

I would suggest busting out some concrete, replace/repair the misaligned drain fitting and go with the Schluter system. DIY friendly and it will never leak.
