This isn’t about nickling and diming, I already know these two bath remodels are going to cost me over $40k! But why should I pay msrp for something if I can avoid it. These tilers were recommended by Porcelanosa and supposedly even did work in their showrooms, and they volunteered the discount not me. My question is still unanswered, could any tiler / contractor get that discount ?

I would suggest taking the tile sample from the designer to a reputable flooring company who will order all necessary materials and schedule appropriate installers for you. They do all the heavy lifting so all you need to do is enjoy the end result.

Of course, we own a flooring company so i totally understand the difference.

I am working directly with Porcelanosa (https://www.porcelanosa-usa.com) and their Dallas showroom designer is great and gave me a sample of all the tiles, even ordered samples for the ones she didn’t have. My issue is with the contractors and their lack of response. Supposedly the ones the showroom recommended get a discount off the retail $ which will be few thousand $.

My store in DC area has 50% sale every year around Thanksgiving. All stock, and I think it includes everything, not just tile.

Porcelanosa does 40% off everything (to ‘regular’ people, not just trades) a few times per year. Usually they have one around thanksgiving if you can wait a bit. Your tiler could have a discount, but I suppose it’s up to them whether they pass that along, in part or full, to the client or not.

I just purchased > 4000 sq ft of Porcelanosa Minnesota Camel from a shop in Italy (Sognando Casa Tile Shop) and had it shipped and delivered to my home in So California. I saved > $30,000 (cost savings based upon Porcelanosa annual fall sale pricing) purchasing through a distributor out of the country than going direct through the local Porcelanosa retailer. It took approximately 3 months for the tiles to arrive, due, in part, to the special fabrication of the stair treads. The tiles arrived in perfect condition. The tile shop in Italy was extremely professional. They helped me navigate clearing the tile through US Customs. They were in constant communication throughout the entire process. I am currently in the process of installing the tiles. For those homeowners, like myself, who have a limited budget for their home renovations, I would highly recommend contacting Sognando Casa Tile shop for comparative pricing. Their pricing is highly competitive. I could not find a retailer here

in the US who could match their pricing for any of the tile brands I was considering for my project.

I love my Porcelanosa Minnesota Camel tile. I have received numerous compliments on the floor. I plan to use the last remaining tiles for our Master bed/bath. It was a challenging project but well worth it in the end. I could not be happier.

I hope you're still active on Houzz. You mentioned saving over $30,000 (cost savings based on Porcelanosa's annual fall sale pricing). I just want to clarify: does that $30,000 in savings come on top of the 40% annual sales discount that Porcelanosa offers?

I ask because I also contacted Sognando Casa, as you recommended, and received a quote for my six bathrooms' tiles and wood flooring. The price is very similar to what I'd get after the 40% off from Porcelanosa, meaning I wouldn't save anything extra. On top of that, they said I'd have to pay duty after picking up from the closest harbor, and I have no idea how much that would cost.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

@amy nguyen: I purchased this tile during COVID. If I remember correctly, I paid approximately $5.00 per sq ft for the tile. The stair treads were <$200 per tread. I needed > 22 treads for my house. I had to pay for shipping and customs but the customs tariffs were far less than the sales tax I would have had to pay here in So. California. It was incredible savings. I recently contacted Sognando Casa Tile for a bathroom project and found that their prices were no longer competitive. As per my previous post, I could not be happier with my tile. It really transformed the house.
