Door frame on open laundry stall

Hi! new home owner and DIY-er here. I would like to add a door to the laundry stall in our house. I have visions of hanging an old/antique door with a window. Will I need to frame the inside of the side walls and add a header? I don’t need the door to actually latch into place, but it should “look” closed, if that makes sense. Could I add a frame to FRONT of the side walls? I ask because we don’t have our stackable washer and dryer yet and I’m concerned that framing the inside of the side walls will take up depth space needed for the door to “close.” It would work with our current washer (pictured) bc the front of the machine is flat; stackable washer and dryer units are obviously not. Thoughts/suggestions??
