is it a disease or pest?

I just bought a bare root adenium off ebay. It si a CA seller but the accompanying care note says it was shipped from Asia. It looks healthy and fat except the only leaves on the tips are crooked and at least one is curled downward. I understand that the leaves were removed for shipping. But is the leaf shape normal or a sign of a pest or virus. My only other experience with adenium is growing from seed. I had some success with it but some of the 3-4 I managed to grow for a few months had developed crooked leaves somewhat similar to the leaves on this plant. At the time, I had an infestation of Broad mites, which are invisible to the naked eye but cause stunted or stalled growth, outward/downward leaf curling etc. in a number of plants. Anyhow, I eventually killed them while trying to kill the mites. Long story short, is there something wrong with the plant or I am being paranoid? Also any advice on potting up the plant would be greatly appreciated, such as the potting mix for NJ/northeast. It is obviously going to be indoors during the colder months and outdoors in summer.

Look at it with a magnifier to see if there are signs of infestation. If it has turned out it came in from Asia without being inspected by agricultural agents before being delivered to you then something nasty being present is possible.

The leaves loo clean and the plant looks pretty healthy other than the misshapen leaves. I will check with a magnifier. I ordered form a US seller (CA) and it came fairly quickly with US postmarks so it didn't come directly to me from Asia. It is possible that the seller imports from Asia and included care instructions that came with the shipment. I would imagine a bulk importer would go through proper channels but there is no way to know. Anyhow, we shall see...

An actual state inspected US nursery would presumably have their own web site separate from E Bay with background information about what they sell. All the more so because this one is supposedly operating in California, a state well known for restricting the movement of agricultural products into it from outside. With there being other US states that do this also - including the prohibition of particular horticultural products from within the US, let alone overseas.
