Gorgeous!! I have one with huge leaves but no flowers so thanks for sharing yours!!

Just saw I have a second one sending up a spike as well so have that to look forward to. I read on-line they are self-fertile so I have tried to pollinate to see if I get more seed on the first one. I saved pollen from the first one as well so hopefully that means I can get seed for sure on the second one.

I'm tempted to cross this with my Eucrosia eucrosioides but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to mark which flowers got that polllen - any ideas from those of you who routinely make crosses?

I've also got my first Worsleya of the year blooming now and a second one with the spike just emerging so it looks like fall will be a good blooming season for me :o) Dan

I use a label that attaches to itself around the flower stem.

This is a picture of mine, Dan. The leaves are huge, multiple bulbs, has been in 3 gal pot for a gazzilion years, grows next to griffinia and E. Bi-color which flower profusely and this one just gets larger and larger leaves. Any suggestions? More sun?

I'm happy that its happy but I would really like to see some flowers. Jody

Hi Jody, Nice looking plant! I had mine from seed (about 10 per 5" plastic pot) for 5 years and finally last summer separated them out in to individual 5" plastic pots and surprisingly they bloomed this summer. I know they say they can take full sun, but mine maybe get 3-4 hrs of morning sun and then are in the shade - that is the area I have available.

I normally have no interest in hybrids, but since it seems this can be hybridized with other genera I'd like to try pollen from things like Pamianthe, Paramongaia and Worsleya that I have available from my plants. Who knows, maybe I would a real monster plant! The flowers are so tiny it is hard for me to tie a string or something else around an individual flower, but I will have to try!

Dan thanks, I'll try separating them, for some reason I thought they resented being divided, or something like that. Bought this as a seedling years ago, but this year the leaves have really grown large, so maybe next year - hope springs eternal when it comes to plants.

Duh, just realized how small the individual flowers are. Just a thought - what about numbering the flower stems ( I, II, III ) with a sharpie as well as using different colored thread to track the crosses? With special crosses redundancy is not over rated and these sound like some interesting crosses. Jody
