are you attached to having a seating area there? It may be a bit awkward in front of the window. I would change to a simpler curtain and put plants in the corner

now that I see the bigger picture with the mantle in it it is definitely not a seating area in my eyes. simplify simplify simplify

That area is not working, but could you provide a picture further out, as it’s hard to get a sense of the space.

In the meantime, suggest a solid window treatment of some sort and don’t use a mat - rug can just be reconfigured to be under a more congenial seating area.

Hello, this is the layout of the living room. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Got rid of the corner chair :)

I'm not a pro, so take my advise accordingly. I know you're not done with furnishing, so I know you're going to get a coffee table, end tables, some lamps. Now that the pictures are not in front of the fireplace, we can see that area better. I still think you can use that corner as a reading nook. Make the chair you do put there have a real purpose, not just sitting there. It just needs a different style of chair than you had before. After all, so many cozy reading corners are next to fireplaces. You should hang your beautiful modern artwork over the fireplace, and get a great chair with straight lines and a small table for a cup of tea. Move that modern chair to the other side of the sofa (not in front of the fire - I think that is what crowds the corner). The curtains don't work because the style is not congruent with the style of the room. A heavier drape, maybe subtle stripes. Try moving the sofa away from the wall a bit, perhaps in line with the left wall, leaving a walk space behind the sofa. You'll have a nice space for conversation.

Before thinking about a specific chair, I’d suggest deciding on:

    1) room plan: suggest adding two matching chairs facing the couch or across from each other. Your butterfly chair could be near fireplace a bit closer to window and not squeezed in. If a tv will be in room, its location has to be considered

    2) style and color scheme - I really like rust, brass accents and light wood. Jewel tone colors would be nice also

    3) Furniture: size and shape of coffee table, side tables, bookcase, console, etc

    4) Accessorizing: lamps, mirror over fireplace, large art over couch and window treatment (suggest IKEA linen-like white drapes).

If you would like help, I’m sure people will make suggestions, but you may want to look at lots of inspiration pictures to get inspiration, so you can start to narrow down.

Only after all of the above have been more or less narrowed down, then start adding pieces - it will be much easier and you‘ll get a cohesive room. All the best and take your time!
