Shine on wood help please

Hi guys! We have a wood kitchen table that has a matte finish. Walnuts were were used to get a scratch out, and it did more harm than good and left a shiny mark. I have tried honestly everything I can think of to get the shine mark. At this point I feel like I’m making it worse. Any recommendations? Here is a photo. i tried soap/water, mineral spirits, water/white

vinegar and even a very fine wool pad and gentle rubbed to get shine out. to be honest, I don’t know if I did any of these methods correctly, so just thought I’d ask. Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance!

Touch up with a matte lacquer.

@krissie55 Oo thank you! I actually know the man who finished it for us, so hopefully it will be an easy fix . I appreciate your response so much.

So the manufacture said the only way we could do it was to take the entire table in and restrip and finish. Do you really think a touch up would work? Ugh I’m so mad at myself 😢

it's the matte finish, they are extremely difficult to do anything with. You will have to strip and refinish if you want it to look like the original finish. You could knock it down and put a glossier finish on it, however that is almost as involved. Unfortunately, that is a huge downside of matte finishes.
