Daylily alphabet to come

May I respectfully request that the wonderful daylily alphabet photo thread for "this" year NOT be posted too early? The last one started and ended far too soon, IMO, and then we were all dealing with the pandemic just when some beauty and uplift was sorely needed....

Roxanna - January works fine for me for the alphabet posts. I plan to start the color posts in the second half of October. Maybe that will give your spirits a boost then.

Sherry starts the alphabet thread in January. I don't think January is too "early" myself, but since Sherry is doing the work, it will be Sherry's call as to when to do it. Anyone is free to start a subject at any time, but it does require a bit of commitment to the follow up if it's to be a good post.............Maryl.

After all the excitement of the daylily picture posting season, it's a let down when most of it slacks off. I understand and am already looking forward to Debra's color list header in October. If there's something specific you want to ask or comment on, please feel free to post. We are a small but friendly group and love to talk daylilies.............Maryl

Roxanna - Our Southern-most members have daylilies start to bloom in April - sometimes the end of March - so we like to have the alphabet over by then. Also I wouldn't participate much in March because I'm working in my gardens then. I personally like to look at those photos when it's too cold to be out playing in the dirt.

January works better for me . I haven't posted much this summer with all that is going on here so the October color posts will be a delight to see . Then we get past Thanksgiving (well Canadian Thanksgiving) and everyone is preoccupied with Christmas coming up .So January is the optimal month for the alphabet posts . that usually takes us into February and BAM ! spring is on its way. By January, I am longing for some color and the alphabet posts not only give us that shot of color we are all longing for but it is a quiet time gardenwise ( at least it is here ) and lots of views of lovely plants and planning for the next season can happen without too much other interferences. Roxanne, hope you are not too disappointed that it may not happen sooner but I sure hope you will stick around and join us and share images of your daylilies and gardens !
