The sitting area needs a focal point. The love seat and print recliner are the two newest, the tufted chair doesn’t work but I don’t have anywhere else to put it at the moment (working on that.) I need occasional tables, rugs and artwork. Maybe something on the antique cabinet for height?

Move the little rug to your foyer. Get one at least as wide as the bay window. I like leggy furniture to sit entirely on a rug. Looks like most of your wall items are hung too high. Try centering pieces 5' above the floor or 5" above furniture for better balance. I think I would like the area better if the two chairs flanked the table at the window and the sofa sat with its back to the dining area to visually divide the two. Or you could put the chairs with their table in the window and use the window table behind the sofa if there's room. It can be used as a server for the dining area that way too.

Some of the online rug vendors have a feature that lets you view the rug in an uploaded photo of your room (RugsUSA and Esale rugs are two I know of). It really makes it easy to figure out what works and what doesn't.

What's your art budget, and what do you like (colors and style; abstract, landscape, portrait, city scenes, photography, safe, edgy, whatever)? I'm a proponent of getting art you love, not art that "goes," and nobody can tell you that, you have to figure it out for yourself. I've bought original art online from Saatchi art; you can filter for you price point. There's some good stuff on Etsy but their filtering isn't very good and you have to wade through a lot of chaff to find the wheat.

Your dining area seems to be larger than the sitting area. Can the 2 be switched?

Leave the run in the dining area, you may be able to use it with sofa etc. Maybe give it a try.

Try the chairs in the bay window area with sofa facing it.

Already the rooms is brighter wit the larger rug. But yes, try the chairs int he BAy window and the sofa as aroom divider opposing the chairs. either the deleicate leggy table or the antique cabinet on the wall where the sofa is now. then put what you dont use in a different room so its not too crowded.

I was thinking the same as Angel. Could you try switching the two areas?

Angel I can’t swap the dining table work the seating because of the chandelier that need to be over the table. I also tried putting the loveseat with its back to the dining area, but the antique sideboard didn’t fit.

That last rug I posted is actually too big for the seating area (8x10), but it’s just right for the dining table

I am not a pro, but to me it looks like you have one, maybe 2, too many pieces of furniture squished in there. To balance the weights out better I think I would move the console table from the window into the dining room far wall under a larger picture to use as a sideboard. I would move the antique cabinet to the middle window. Yes I know it would block some of the window, maybe different window treatments would help with that. Then move the small ottoman to be used as a coffee table with a tray on it in front of the couch And I would try to find another home for the patterned chair., maybe bedroom?

Could the sideboard to elsewhere - under the print beside the table? Or could it replace the plant?

I agree that does not work. The love seat is too close to the dining room chairs, or at least it looks like that in the photo.

I think there is too much furniture in that space. Do you really use the love seat and both chairs? Can the sideboard go in the dining room, either under the picture or where the plant is?

Maybe try the sideboard on the wall, love seat facing it, and the lower-back chair in the window nook. Remove the other chair.

Then group the jars beside in 2 & one in front. Add two buffet lamps on the side.

I'm still thinking you should switch the dining area with the living room as it appears bigger. You could try it, just ignore the light fixture for now.

I like this arrangement because it opens it up to the kitchen so any one can sit there while you are cooking...or you can relax while keeping an eye on things ...

On the stove or in the kitchen

That looks better can the buffet going the dining ? The plant can be moved to the living Room and that would give you that corner or under the picture
