The hoses were previously connected behind drywall, and the valves were behind a door for access - see the "before" photo below. The valves that would ordinarily be visible are still behind a door, but it's now covered with tile and blends into the backsplash - see below for a closer view of that area. There are many options depending on your budget and needs. One cost-effective solution would be to add a door to the exposed hose area, then add a textured wallpaper to that wall, covering the door as well - remember to carefully cut out the door for access after wallpapering. You could add a counter with backsplash (as we did with the Compact Laundry Room Renovation) if demoing the wall and moving the location of the box are possibilities. If changing the floor plan is an option for you, there are countless solutions!
