We have a Mitsubishi mini split system for one room (living room over garage). We don't use that room or that system very often. After trying to run it (the AC) the other day it shut down with an error message. Went outside and looked at the unit and realized that one of the copper lines had broke and the freon gas is gone. We think it must have been the landscaper when we were away. We are getting this fixed soon, but my question is, should we clean the area where the lineset meets the outside unit, which is where the break happened? How harmful is that area considering all that gas has leaked out. We have children so don't want them near there if it's harmful.
