Wandering Stitchers retreat planning

We are down to one month before retreat! I can hardly wait. So far we have 6 coming, so total payment will be $250.

Beverly and Tim

Sharon

Jackie

Jennifer

Char

There is still room if anyone is interested.

We can arrive after 1pm on Tuesday the 6th and must vacate by 10am on the 11th. There is 1 handicap room and Sharon has requested it. As it stands now, we will each have our own room.

The kitchen has just about anything we could want, including coffee and tea. We each usually bring some goodies to share and take turns making dinner. There is a small grocery store and a Dollar General very close and an Amish vegetable stand a few miles away. We can make a list of things we need and do a grocery run when we get there. Breakfast and lunch will be pretty much on our own, but there is usually plenty of leftovers. Saturday is usually "eat up the leftovers and clean the fridge out" night. Please copy and paste the dinner schedule when you know what you want to make.

Tues: Beverly, vegetable soup and cornbread

Wed:

Thur:

Fri:

Sat: Leftovers

I'm bringing mice and oatmeal cookies. If you have any special requests just let me know.

Honey said they have taken down some of the quilts and added more design walls. So we may each have our own design wall. Cutting tables, ironing boards and irons are provided. We will need machines, projects, rulers, rotary cutters, and specialty items for your projects. I'm sure we will play a few games of LRC, so bring about 50 charm squares. I'm bringing neutrals, feel free to bring what you have available.

I will bring my AccuQuilt cutter if anyone is interested in using it.

I have these dies:

Strips and some HST sizes

most of the leaf, hearts, stars, and circle dies

Orange peel

Hunter Star

Ohio Star

Glorified Nine Patch

LeMoyne Star

10 inch Pineapple

6 inch Crazy Quilt

4 1/2 inch equilateral triangle

4 inch triangle in a square

Chisels

Apple Core

Rose of Sharon

4 inch Kite

4 inch bowtie

4 inch drunkard's path

6 inch snowball

2 inch uppercase alphabet

I'll send Char my cell phone number, I think every one else has it. If you have any questions feel free to call or text and ask. There is VERY limited cell service at my mom's, so if I'm there it may take a while for me to answer.

I'm so ready for this!

Beverly, If I can get some hand needles threaded I thought I could work on some of them when in Georgia the next week. I have a needle threader with a light, now I just need the magnifying glass. LOL Or figure out this other contraption I have that is supposed to automatically thread the needle. I suppose finding the place for the thread and needle would be a plus. LOLOLOL

    Thank you Bev.

Sharon, you need some easy thread needles.

    Easy thread needles

Well, last night I started going through my stash and I've started cutting quite a variety of 5" charm squares for the retreat. Everything from cotton calico to neon batiks in all different colors. It will be an interesting assortment! The weather here has been so cool these past few days, and I'm not ready for the cold quite yet. I will have to pack sweats/sweaters for the retreat. I hate to be cold!

Well, I can see some interesting fights during the LRC game. I love me some batiks. I'm looking forward to some cool, dry weather. This 90+ and 85% humidity is for the birds.

LRC is where I go to give my fabric away LOL

Yep, easy thread needles should do the trick, Beverly. I'll have to see what I can find. I don't trust mail delivery to arrive before I leave.

I have mostly neutrals for charms but do have a few others. :-)

Jackie, LRC?????? I think we all know by now we can't trust you to stay out of our suitcases/fabric stashes. I'm pretty sure my luggage weighed a few pounds more when we left the retreat last Spring. It's no wonder Tim hurt his hip!!! LOLOLOL

While going through my UFO bins, I found several orphan blocks (10X10) and several projects I had completely forgotten about. I also discovered another bin that was hiding behind the others and inside I found blocks from 2 quilts I must have worked on over 10 years ago! I may bring the crazy quilt (there is a story behind it). Cheesecake is baked and heading into the freezer for the retreat! 16 days!

Isn't it amazing what we find when we start cleaning? Retreat is always a good place to finish up those old UFOs.

So excited for all of you! I only made it to retreat a few times, but I loved it. This, however, is certainly not a year when I could manage it. I hope you post some pictures!

It would be wonderful to have a reunion retreat, wouldn't it. I will be sure to post pictures for everyone.

I have started packing for the retreat and I'm bringing an awful lot of stuff. Is that normal for the retreat? I am probably over packing, but I guess that is ok. I will still have plenty of room in my car, lol!

Char, no worries, over packing is perfectly normal. I always have to take unfinished projects back home. But that is ok, it's nice to have projects to choose from, and we will have lots of room.

Do nightshirts count as tunics over jeans/slacks/leggings?

Sharon you can wear your jammies all day long. You know we do not care. :)

Char, I always pack way too much, but I never run out of stuff to work on. I even bring an extra machine just in case. LOL And you have to consider, that we sit and sew and work on stuff all day without much interruption so you actually can get a lot of stuff done in the 5 days. I also bring stuff to put on a free table. Stuff that I know that I am never going to use or quilt magazines that have no projects in them of interest to me. My only rule is that those do not come back home with me. LOL That being said, I might add to people's take home luggage weight without their knowledge.

    Sharon, yes, yes they do.

Sending many, many good wishes for a great retreat. I only made it to one retreat, same one that sandlapper-rose attended (hello! and where did your screen name come from?). Almost made one in spring 2019. Would love to come to a Reunion Retreat if and when. Enjoy the retreat, quilting projects, lrc games, food and, of course, visiting in person. Safe travels too

Wow, Char, how can you concentrate on a finish this week? You're good!

I just now thought I should probably bring a SBS block for the LRC game as I know how much she is loved. Tunics are packed, blouses put back in the closet (lol), ......can't find my hexies.

    Char, that is beautiful!

    Beautiful quilt, Char!

Beautiful Char! Sharon LEAVE SBS AT HOME

I say be inclusive and bring SBS. She might be hurt if she thought she was unwelcome after all she's meant to many quilters over the years.

    I agree, Ginny.

Love the quilt, Char. Who doesn't love all shades of blue and turquoise?

I can't wait to see pics and hear all about retreat. Have safe travels and a great time!

Love the quilt Char! Pattern name?

    Theresa

Ty all. I'm still packing for retreat and bringing a variety of stuff for free table. I also just took my mechanical free motion machine in for service, so I will be using my sewing/embroidery machine for the retreat. I have not sewn or quilted on it for years. I am going to have to review functions and "re-learn" exactly how it works, lol. The computer is much smarter than I am.

    Pattern is called "Winter Diamonds"

Things have been up in the air here. My Mom died last week. Unfortunately, due to Covid, I had not been able to see her since January.

We have long distance renovated and are selling one property and needing to buy another. Oh, and our roof was replaced last week!

Today I got a crown on my molar. Would still like to come, but need to catch my breath.

Latifolia. I am so very sorry about your mom. And not to be able to be with her. So very sad. You sure have had a lot going on in your life and I agree, you need to catch your breath! Maybe you should come sit with us and take a breather. Hugs.......

Latifolia, I am so saddened to hear about your mom. So sad to have been unable to see her for so long. I was blessed to be able to see my dad before he passed.

Latifolia, I'm sorry for your loss. COVID has been a cruel thing to deal with.

Could you set up a Zoom gathering for dinners. Your food sounds much better than my dinners would be. Just being silly of course.

Not silly at all. All my favourite foods being planned. Zoom me in too.

And I will bring pimento cheese and chicken salad and stuff for lunches. :) I am thinking of bringing stuff to make a big bowl of tossed salad to have in the fridge for whenever.

Sounds like we are set for food. I start baking tomorrow.

Latifolia, I am so sorry to hear about your mom.

I am missing you all, already, and wish I could come! Tobey finished his Katy Trail ride - plus spurs - with a total of 370 miles. We got home this afternoon and the RV is unloaded. I am working on sketching some ideas for a king-sized quilt I am going to be making on commission for a friend of my brothers. Could sure sure the moral support of you all!

    Have a great time.

Beverly, I made "crack" but won't have time to mail it so I am going to eat it all .... :)

    Sue

Thanks for the thought, Sue. Just as well, I'd only eat it anyway.

Glad you made it home safely. How is Toby's ankle?

Getting better - it still hurts depending on how he steps! Thanks for asking!

Hello Cindy! We still have room if you can make it.

Hi Cindy, Our site isn't as busy as it used to be but some of us are still here and check in to make sure the sewing room is open and someone is working in it. lol

I have to get back to packing. Daughter will be here at 6:45 in the morning and she thinks she can have my stuff packed in 15 minutes. LOLOLOL I had to go into my Geezerman's closet looking for another bag to use. LOLOLOL
