I would definitely get a new rug since you have all tile floors. Getting a rug that matches the dog's fur color or with a more complex (or random) pattern can help hide hair and dirt. Also putting an entry mat in front of the door might help keep dirt off the main rug.

Not sure what color your dog is, but a couple with more complicated patterns here and here.

Have you checked out ruggables they seem to be agreat anser o rugs with pets and kids. I dislike beige for anything so that color would not work for me I like the color you have now much better and when you do the new covers pleas eliminate those huge throw pillows they do not belong on that couch in fact IMO only yhe lumbar pillows and mabe a couple in the bend .

Does the sofa look better without the Throw pillows? I would like to add at least 2 or 3, I like how cozy the sofa feels when you add a couple of pillows, can anyone please recommend colors, etc.
Also, I took a shot of the kitchen which is open to the family room.

I like throw pillows too! I think yours are just too big and too many. I wouldn't put lumbar pillows everywhere. Maybe do one lumbar pillow on each side (like in the original picture) with 1-3 smaller throw pillows on each corner/end. Try to mix patterned and/or textured pillows with a few solid ones. I usually avoid using ones that match the couch. I liked the style of your original pillows, just too many and too big.

Why not try bare floors for a while. You can always get an area rug later. When our cat developed kidney problems we removed all rugs and our house is much easier to keep clean now.

You can bring in color with artwork also - not just with the pillows.
