Are you so OCD that when you go into a friend's house with all stainless appliances you can tell they're not all the same brand?

It really depends on proximity to each other and line of sight when viewing appliances in a kitchen. Don't necessarily let brand dictate your choices. That said, though, I am using all the same brand for double ovens, refrigerator, and dishwashers in my new kitchen but that was based on more than just the aesthetic factor. Pricing and reviews also played a part with aesthetics being the thing that tipped decisions one way or another when all else had been equalized.

Plus, dishwashers and refrigerators can have custom panels on them so definitely no need to have the same brand as long on those.

Paneling your dishwasher and/or fridge will dramatically cut down on the number of appliances you need to worry about matching brands on (I'm presuming that you only care about brands for appearance's sake).

Thank you all. Cpartist...it's true. I DO notice. It doesn't drive me crazy and I love them just the same (no judging here!) but...yes, it would really bug me in my own home. I have a tiny KS farm cottage where I occasionally spend time, and did the same thing there - all same brand name, except washer and dryer. Makes me happy though. Emilymch, you are right. I have to find the fridge first. Because we are so far from stores, I really have to make sure it is oversized.

If you are far from stores, Ditch the 42” fridge entirely. Go with a consumer grade 36” fridge. Add another top freezer fridge in the laundry room or somewhere. And for goodness sake, forget any of the impossible to find service Korean brands. Call up your local repair shop and ask them who they don’t have issues getting parts for. My guess would be GE.

Agree with @User. We are far from the grocery and have four kids so I buy in bulk a lot. We have to have two refrigerators. I'm getting a full depth 36" french door fridge for the kitchen and will have another refrigerator AND upright freezer in the pantry. It was much more cost effective to do it that way because the ones in the pantry don't have to be "kitchen worthy." A 42" fridge is much more expensive anyway.

You might like KitchenAid. We chose the oven/microwave/convection wall unit instead of two ovens because of versatility. KA is owned by Whirlpool and some are made in Michigan! so parts and service should be ok but definitely worth looking into where you are. I get you on matching finishes. A friend pointed it out and I can't get it out of my head now. Read all the reviews you can find.

Sub-Zero makes the most reliable 42" frig. And nothing else under that brand. Wolf isn't a exact match for an OCD person. So you're stuck. Choose the 24" Designer panel ready column and the 18" freezer. They disappear. Pick a panel ready Miele dishwasher. That disappears. Now you've got two top quality appliances. Instead of double ovens many here are choosing a steam oven as the second. Miele is popular. Induction is also popular for a cooktop. Faster to heat up and change heat levels than gas. Much cleaner and easier to keep clean. It doesn't produce all the waste heat in your kitchen. Miele is a good option. . . .But wait. Miele also has integrated frig and freezer columns that can configure to 42". So OCD hooray.

Appreciate all the input-truly! I was only kidding about the OCD thing. Only in some areas of life I have self diagnosed. Ha! Not to minimize that this is a real condition for some. I had considered Miele and will take a second look. It helps if I take a 2-3 day break and start fresh with a cup of morning coffee and all of your splendid advice.
