IMO first get wood floor and if that means going with unfinished and matching as close as possible to what you have that is the right choice.Forget about the fancy tile work behind the stove that is a dated idea and even when it ewas in only really works in a huge Tuscan kitchen preferably in Tuscany. Sure hop you are dealing with a lot more lighting installed all LEDs in 4000k before choosing any colors for even the island. Go to a flooring store that also does refinishing and get the wood floor.

Not big on the java island. maybe a gray green and that will work w whatever the floor situation evolves into. As per Ms Pat above , your hardwood floor deserves more effort it will be a good investment.

You are considering installing two things that have been a mild frustration for me in my kitchen. The java stain will show all SORTS of marks and drips and dust. My similarly-almost-black base cabinets basically never look clean. The white uppers are not nearly as bad in this respect.

In addition to the unhelpful color, my cabinet doors are similar to yours -- Shaker-style-with-bit-extra-happening-with-the-molding. The bit extra happening with the molding ALSO catches a ton of dust and grime.

I like the java color in a vacuum, and I like the door style in a vacuum, but in practice, they're a messy-looking pain.

BTW that Jave or espresso color almost always was cheap chinese cabinetry so maybe rethink this color scheme just go white cabinets everywhere and add your color with things that can be changed,

Thanks for all the suggestions. I got creative. Our laundry room and office have the same wood floor and happens to be more than enough sq footage for the kitchen, will call our installer today to see if this works.
As for the java...I mean I know where our cabinets are being made so I’m not really worried about the quality. And I’m not sure I can change it at this point.
So suggestions for hardware color, backsplash color, paint color?
