Experience w/Caesarstone honed not consistent with threads

last modified: 6 years ago

So I ordered some samples of the honed Caesarstone so I could test the maintenance issues that have been reported here. Specifically I am testing raw concrete and sleek concrete, and so far everything has come off very easily.

Im not making any decisions yet as I am still waiting for my Corian samples, but I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with the samples not being consistent with their countertop. So far it seems like there is no problem getting the stains off of these samples, so either (1) Caesarstone has changed something so that they don’t stain, (2) they’ve sent me some kind of fake sample that doesn’t stain so I’ll be fooled into getting the countertop, or the (3) posts complaining about maintenance of the honed Caesarstone were fake (but why even would someone do that?)

I just don’t know what to think. I’ve got 4000k lighting in here so it’s not like I can’t see the stain. It came completely out with water and I’m just suspicious with all of the negative reviews about it. Anyone have recent experience with the actual honed Caesarstone countertops?

edit: stains I tried were fingerprint, wine, and greasy fingerprints

Dena, when did you get your countertops? I have Noble Gray, polished, which is a year old. In the past month or so it has suddenly started showing rings, blotches, dingy spots - only visible when light shines across the counters. I feel like some coating has worn off the quartz or something. I have sprayed with Weiman’s quartz cleaner, scrubbed with Dawn, tried a tiny bit of Softscrub gel, a tiny bit of acetone, a tiny bit of Barkeepers Friend (all in different spots and all washed off immediately), none of which worked. I though it might be from the dish soap I was using so I switched to Dawn which has not helped. I am reluctant to really scrub since that can damage the finish and am nervous to try other products. I guess I will try the Soft Scrub left on for a few minutes per your post - is that the green gel Cleaner or the white gel Cleanser? Frustrated and annoyed because I got quartz which was supposed to be “maintenance free” when I really wanted marble. I don’t think marble etches could be worse than what I’m seeing.

All honed materials have a rougher surface that grabs and holds oils and debris. The only way around that added maintenance chore is to fill in those pores with something like Tenax Quarzo. The marketing department didn’t talk to the technical department before writing the ad copy. They also must not have any employees left over from the first go around with honed quartz, 15 years ago. It was withdrawn from the market after the lawsuits about itt.

Try some Tenax Quartz Toner please.

@Charlie Noway Hi Charlie, I am considering Caesarstone raw concrete countertops as well. What was the outcome of your decision? Did you install this? Any problems to report? Thank you!

@Charlie Noway I am looking at raw concrete and very encouraged with your post! (espeically after reading all of the negative posts). If you have anything to add to your experience at this point I would greatly appreciate your recent experience..and if you still love the quartz and have not had issues with it. also wondering if you use regular dishsoap/sponge for cleanups or only stick with the stone cleaner you mentioned. thanks..appreciate any additional input!

@Emily Brees did you go with raw concrete or another Caseasrstone product? how has your experience been with your quartz? thanks!

Hi Susan. We ended up going with a polished quartz. It was a safer bet and less expensive. We have had quartz in our last 2 renovations and have loved it.
