Cautious about a Quartzite Slab

This slab is leathered Madre Perola Quartzite we think may be damaged. Have you ever seen a slab fused around the edges with another stone like this one? Have you ever seen veins this prominent? Bottom line — is it damaged? (The bottom is in a shadow, the color is fine).

Thank you for any advise you can offer.

I’m not sure what is exactly fused on the side of it but I went to a stone yard today and one of the employees told me they fuse/seam (not sure the proper terminology) a different stone to the sides for strength. For example the one we say was quartzite with granite on the edges. Obviously this would be removed at the time of fabrication. Maybe this is the case with yours?!?

Hire your fabricator first & have them inspect, accept or reject.
